The Tuktuk Trip: Tear Through Sri Lanka in Your Own Tuktuk Over Two Weeks

Welcome to the ultimate adventure in Sri Lanka: The Tuktuk Trip! In 14 days, you’ll tear through Sri Lanka in your very own tuktuk, exploring the most beautiful places in a spectacular way. Bring your best friend, girlfriend, sister, brother, or whoever you like, hop on a plane, and embark on the adventure of a lifetime. But beware: it’s not for everyone. You’ll need some courage, and you’ll have to push your limits.

The Ultimate Adventure

You’ll be driving across Sri Lanka alongside a maximum of 20 tuktuks. A fantastic route has already been planned for you, covering between 112 (50 feet) and 168 kilometers (105 miles) per day. You’ll pass by many of Sri Lanka’s highlights, including temple cities, breathtaking beaches, tea plantations, and charming villages. Your tuktuk will also take you to places where tourists seldom go, allowing you to experience the authentic Sri Lanka. If you want to take a different route or spend a day exploring on your own, that’s entirely up to you. You’ll be equipped with a GPS, so you’ll always know where you are, and you’ll reconvene with the group at the end of each day.

Help! How Do I Drive a Tuktuk?

It’s easy! On the first day, a local instructor will give you tuktuk driving lessons and teach you all the do’s and don’ts. Additionally, you must have a driver’s license (B-category) and obtain an international driver’s license in your home country, such as the Netherlands. Once you receive your international driver’s license, you’ll send it to The Tuktuk Trip organization, and they’ll arrange for you to receive a Sri Lankan driver’s license upon your arrival. That’s quite a unique souvenir!

What Does Participation in The Tuktuk Trip Cost?

You can choose to sleep in dormitories during The Tuktuk Trip, which costs $442 (€395). If you prefer a double room with a private bathroom, the cost is $666 (€595). The prices mentioned above also include several other things, such as daily breakfast, the tuktuk, a GPS, and insurance. You’ll need to arrange your flight separately.
