Due to the fertile soil, it has become a beautiful natural area with abundant flora and fauna. You’ll find several hiking trails along the old crater rim offering stunning views over the valley. Admire the azure blue river in Tenorio Volcano National Park, Costa Rica
Tenorio Volcano National Park is a stunning park with only one hiking trail. This trail takes you to the most beautiful spots of the national park, especially to the unique Rio Celeste river. The water of this river has an azure blue color due to the convergence of two different rivers with volcanic minerals. This causes a chemical reaction that gives the water this -almost unnatural- blue hue. The absolute highlight of the hike is the beautiful Rio Celeste waterfall. Many locals consider this waterfall to be the most beautiful in Costa Rica! Tenorio Volcano National Park is about an hour and a half drive from La Fortuna.
If you enjoy learning more about this unique piece of nature and spotting wildlife along the way, it’s awesome to hike through the park with a guide. The enthusiastic guide will tell you everything about the nature and this unique place. The entrance to Tenorio Volcano National Park, transportation to and from La Fortuna, and a tasty lunch are included in the price.
