What Does the Two-Day Scooter Route on Siargao Look Like?
The two-day scooter route showcases the diversity of Siargao. As soon as you leave General Luna, you’ll pass vast rice fields where water buffaloes seek cooling mud pools. The road takes you through the green countryside with endless fields of palm trees and small villages where children wave excitedly at you.
With this scooter route from General Luna to the north of Siargao, you’ll pass all the beautiful spots. The distance is about 65 kilometers (40 mi) one way. If you ride without stopping, it takes about two hours. But there are so many places worth exploring along the way, so rushing would be a waste. Take your time and you’ll experience the route at its best. During this route, I stayed overnight at Kaha Island Stay, and I highly recommend it. It’s a lovely accommodation where you can completely relax after the scooter ride. You’ll read more about staying here later in the article.
Good to know: The road to the north is wide, paved, and surprisingly calm. Even with little scooter experience, this ride is very doable. Ride slowly on the side of the road and enjoy the view.
Beautiful Stops on Day 1 of the Scooter Route
The route on Day 1 starts in the center of General Luna and passes six places that we highlight below. View the route with stops on Day 1 in Google Maps.
-
Coconut Plantation Viewpoint
The first stop on the route is Coconut Plantation Viewpoint, located right off the road. Here, you’ll have a spectacular view over the palm tree plantations that seem to stretch endlessly. A classic Siargao sight that you definitely need to see.
Distance from General Luna to Coconut Plantation Viewpoint: 16 km (9.9 mi) / ± 30 min

Siargao Palm Tree Road
The road from the viewpoint to the next stop is also definitely worth mentioning. This road goes through a palm tree plantation and is called Siargao Palm Tree Road, also known as Burgos Coconut Road. It’s beautiful to zip through here.
Distance from Coconut Plantation Viewpoint to Siargao Palm Tree Road: 1.1 km (0.7 mi) / 2 min
-
Maasin River Bridge
Only two kilometers (1.2 mi) further, you’ll find Maasin River Bridge, which you might pass by if you’re not paying attention. At the bridge, you’ll see a few stalls and tuk-tuks, but what really stands out is what’s below the bridge: the winding, dark green Maasin River, surrounded by rows of palm trees bending over the water. If you like, you can take a short boat ride along the river. It’s best to visit this spot as early as possible because it can get quite busy later in the day.
Distance from Siargao Palm Tree Road to Maasin River Bridge: 500 m (0.3 mi) / ± 1 min
-
Magpopongko Rock Pools
These natural rock pools are one of Siargao’s most famous highlights. Rightfully so, as it’s a beautiful natural phenomenon. The catch is that you have to plan your visit a bit. You need to arrive at low tide because the pools are only visible at this time, and you can swim in them. Once the tide rises, they disappear under the sea again. So be sure to check when low tide is before you go.
Distance from Maasin River Bridge to Magpopongko Rock Pools: 18 km (11.2 mi) / ± 35 min
-
Pacifico Beach
As you ride to Pacifico Beach, you’ll notice that you’ve really left behind the busier south. The nature here feels more untouched and it’s much quieter. This long, rugged beach is popular with surfers, but even if you don’t ride a board, it’s a lovely place to unwind. The vibe around Pacifico is laid-back, with a few small cafes and restaurants. Perfect for a lunch break during this scooter route! Try a delicious smoothie bowl at Common Ground or enjoy their all-day brunch menu at Swell Cafe and Bar.
Distance from Magpopongko Rock Pools to Pacifico Beach: 10.8 km (6.7 mi) / ±16 min
-
The Marvelous Somyot Cave
The Marvelous Somyot Cave isn’t your standard stop and is definitely not for everyone, but if you like a bit of action and adventure, this is probably for you. Hidden among the greenery is a cave that is still barely known. The name may sound a bit theatrical, but the experience is certainly special. Together with a guide, you’ll climb and scramble through a damp cave full of stalactites and stalagmites until you discover a refreshing pool deep inside the earth.
Distance from Pacifico Beach to The Marvelous Somyot Cave: 6.8 km (4.2 mi) / ± 9 min
-
End of Day 1: Overnight at Kaha Island Stay
Day one of the scooter route is over! Be sure to book accommodation in the north of Siargao in advance. I stayed a night at Kaha Island Stay, a small-scale accommodation in a tiny village surrounded by nature. The tastefully decorated bungalows with air conditioning offer a comfortable place to unwind. You can use the shared kitchen, relax in the cozy lounge, or explore the surroundings at your leisure. The best part: in the early morning, you’re just 10 minutes away from Alegria Beach, the first stop on Day 2.

Beautiful Stops on Day 2 of the Scooter Route
On the second day, you’ll drive mostly the same road back to General Luna, but stop at different places than on day 1. View the route with stops on Day 2 in Google Maps.

Alegria Beach
Start day two early and head to Alegria Beach for the sunrise. The sky often turns soft shades of orange, pink, and yellow in the early morning. The calm sea reflects these beautiful colors, creating a fantastic start to your day. Feel free to take a dip in the water to wake up fully. Alegria Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in Siargao, with crystal-clear blue water and pure white sand.
Distance from Kaha Island Stay to Alegria Beach: 6.1 km (3.8 mi) / ± 10 min
-
Secret Mountain Viewpoint
From the Secret Mountain Viewpoint, you’ll have a wide view over Siargao’s coastline and the green inland. Sometimes you can spot birds of prey soaring above the forest, while below the waves crash against the shore. The viewpoint is not clearly marked, only a small sign along the road. From here, walk up a narrow path for about five minutes. Upon arrival, you’ll pay a small fee, and then it’s all about enjoying the view.
Distance from Alegria Beach to Secret Mountain Viewpoint: 6 km (3.7 mi) / ± 10 min
-
Tayangban Cave Pool
Tayangban Cave is a beautiful cave where you can take a short but adventurous journey through a narrow gorge. With a guide, you’ll make your way through the cave until you reach a hidden canyon with clear turquoise water; a special place to swim and cool off.
Distance from Secret Mountain Viewpoint to Tayangban Cave Pool: 5 km (3.1 mi) / ± 6 min
Let Your Curiosity Lead the Way
With the tips from this article, you’re sure not to miss any beautiful spots, but be sure to let your curiosity lead the way. Along the coast, there are countless hidden paths that take you to the beach. Some places are covered with flowers and greenery, others are open, wild, and surrounded by palm trees.
Practical Tips for This Two-Day Scooter Route on Siargao
- Scooter Rental – There are many companies in General Luna where you can rent a scooter, and Lola’s Rentals is one of the best. You might pay a little more here than at other rental shops, but you’ll get extra service. The scooters are well-maintained, and you get a dry bag, rain gear, and even a first aid kit. They also have tuk-tuks available if you’d prefer not to ride a scooter.
- Only Bring a Daypack – For this two-day trip, you don’t need much. Leave your big backpack or suitcase behind in General Luna and take only a small daypack with what you really need. If your budget allows, it’s nice to keep your room so you can jump back into your own place without unpacking your bag again. If that’s not possible, ask your accommodation if you can leave your luggage in storage, which is usually no problem.
- Be Prepared for the Weather – The sun on Siargao is relentless. On the scooter, you often don’t notice how hot the sun is due to the wind. So, make sure to apply sunscreen! But also bring a poncho as tropical showers can suddenly come out of nowhere. Often they pass within a few minutes, but they can leave you soaking wet in no time. Better to be over-prepared than regret it on the way.
