Impressive, Spectacular, and Magical—No one needs to tell you about the natural wonders of Norway. The beauty and ruggedness of this Scandinavian country make it a fantastic destination for adventurous hikes. But we’re not talking about short one or two-hour walks; we’re talking about a 6-day trek through the heart of Norwegian nature. Allow us to introduce you to The Norway Trail. Are you joining this incredible adventure in the summer?
The Concept of The Norway Trail
Norway is not an easy country to explore on your own. The terrain is rugged, and without much experience, it’s challenging to find the best routes. That’s why The Norway Trail was created. In July or August, you’ll spend a week with a group and a guide, moving from place to place. The guides have mapped out a beautiful route and know how to find the most scenic spots in the area. You’ll stay at the most unique natural spots, and all logistics are taken care of. The routes are suitable for anyone with a reasonable level of fitness, so you won’t exhaust yourself on the first day. This way, you can enjoy the trek through Hardangervidda, a high plateau in the heart of Scandinavia, without worries.
What Does the Week Look Like?
In a week, you’ll explore the pristine Norwegian trails. You’ll walk about 15 to 20 kilometers (9 to 12 miles) per day, carrying your own backpack with your sleeping gear and food. On day 1, you’ll fly to Bergen, then take a bus to Kinsarvik, where your journey begins. “You start with a bang,” as they say because before you explore Hardangervidda, you’ll hike along the fjords and encounter beautiful waterfalls along the way!
You’ll continue to encounter the most beautiful waterfalls as you walk through a changing landscape. You’ll see lakes, and your hike will take you past glaciers with perpetual snow. To end the beautiful day, you’ll stay at a shelter idyllically located by a lake. On day three, you’ll hike one of the most beautiful routes of the week. Among hundreds of sheep, you’ll walk along numerous small streams and ascend to the snowy plains, where you can see for miles.
On day six, you’ll visit a highlight of Norway: the famous and phenomenal Trolltunga viewpoint. You’ll stay near this lookout point, allowing you to visit it in the early hours, before it gets crowded. Here, you’ll witness the beauty of Mother Earth! On the last day (day 7), you’ll visit the smaller Preikestolen before starting your descent. You’ll see the landscape change back to a green environment, leaving the snow-capped peaks behind. Your flight home departs the next day from Bergen.
